About Me
Rebecca Phillips - Vocal Coach & Creative Producer
Hey — I’m Rebecca. For over 15 years, I’ve worked with singers and artists to build confident, expressive voices that feel as good as they sound. My approach blends solid vocal technique with emotional depth and real-world experience — because it’s not just about singing “well,” it’s about telling your story and feeling at home in your sound.Alongside coaching, I’m also a working artist and collaborator. My creative work spans music, theatre, podcasting, and commercial media — and all of it feeds back into the way I teach:✔️ I am the writer/producer of projects - Omahrose and BVDHI
✔️ I was a writer, producer, and performer in Suffrageddon, a hip-hop musical staged at The London Palladium and praised as “Britain’s answer to Hamilton”
✔️ I’ve voiced campaigns for Mercedes-Benz and Visit England
✔️ I’ve composed theme music for BBC Radio 4’s #1 podcast Grown-Up Land and “Bedtime Bar Stories
✔️ I provide vocal arrangements for clients and coach performances for stage and studio sessionsAll of this shapes how I show up in the room — as a coach, a mentor, and a creative collaborator/ producer. Whether you're preparing for your next release or just trying to reconnect with your voice, I’m here to help you get there.

My Approach
A Vocal Coaching Approach That Cares About Your Sound & Artistry
There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all coaching. Your voice, your story, and your goals are unique, and I work with each singer in an individualized way, tailored to their specific needs.I work with vocal techniques that are informed by current and past vocal science and research, while also placing a deep focus on expression, emotion, and individuality. Yes, we’ll work on control, agility, and range — but we’ll also explore primal sound, vocal identity, and the kind of artistic choices that make a performance connect. Each session is tailored to your sound, pace, and goals, and progress is made together with me, helping you to understand your voice, while you put in the practice to establish new habits and muscle memory.✔️ Technique & Range: Build strength, flexibility, and reliable control using science-backed methods that feel easier and more natural.
✔️ Primal Voice & Expression: Access raw, honest, emotive sound — the stuff that cuts through and feels authentic and therefore communicates that authenticity to your audience too.
✔️ Artist-Centered Coaching: Whether you're prepping for tour, developing a new project, or rediscovering your voice, we’ll shape the work around what matters most to you and prioritise account

FAQs
What styles of singing do you teach?I work across Pop, R&B, Soul, Rock, Indie, and Musical Theatre — coaching singers to develop healthy technique for their unique sound. My method supports vocal individuality, not genre conformity. (I don’t typically coach classical or opera — I recommend seeing a specialist.)
Do you work with beginners as well as professionals?Absolutely. I coach everyone from complete beginners to touring artists and recording professionals. Each session is tailored to your current level and goals.
Can we do sessions online or in my space?Yes. I teach both online (via Zoom) and in-person at my location in Dalston, London. I also travel to home studios, rehearsal spaces, or recording sessions when needed. Travel sessions are quoted at a higher rate.
Do you offer group coaching for duets, bands, or ensembles?Yes. I coach vocal groups to develop blend, tone, and group dynamics — often alongside individual training for best results.
How often should I have lessons?Weekly or fortnightly lessons are ideal, but I work flexibly depending on your schedule, goals, or tour life. In our first session, we’ll create a plan that suits your lifestyle and pace.
How quickly will I improve with your coaching? Most clients walk away from their first session understanding their voice better. With consistent, intentional practice, you’ll gain range, control, and expressive power — safely and sustainably.
How much do I need to practice? The voice is a muscle. Short, regular practice is more effective than long, infrequent sessions. I’ll help you build smart, sustainable routines tailored to your voice and goals.
How are your sessions structured?Every session includes technique and application to repertoire. First, we assess your vocal needs, then build a plan that balances warmups, technical exercises, and song-based work.
Can I keep my vocal style while improving technique?Yes — and you should. My goal is not to change your sound but to enhance it. I help artists refine their unique tone, storytelling, and phrasing while building solid technique.
Why would a naturally talented singer need coaching?Even the most gifted voices benefit from coaching. Like athletes, professional singers need technique, vocal health strategies, and performance readiness to sustain long-term careers.
Do you help artists with songwriting and creative development?Yes. Many of my clients are artists working on original music. I support songwriting, vocal production, performance, and overall creative direction based on what your project needs.
Do you work with international clients?Yes! I coach singers and artists around the world via Zoom. All you need is a strong internet connection and a quiet space.
